The Transfusion Medicine and Transplantation Biology Society, part of the Croatian Association of Laboratory Medicine (CALM), was established by decision of the General Assembly held on May 18, 2024.

Over the past two decades, the field of transfusion medicine has developed significantly due to the adoption of new technologies, digitalization, and automation of work processes—both in the laboratory and clinical settings. Biomedical science professionals contribute to the field by refining routine procedures and introducing new practices related to blood component collection and production, blood banks, immunohematology laboratories, tissue typing laboratories, and tissue and cell storage banks.

The society was founded with the aim of bringing together biomedical science professionals working in transfusion medicine, tissue and cell banks, and tissue typing laboratories in order to promote continuous professional education and lifelong learning.

The society operates within the Republic of Croatia.
